It’s the last day of September, 2016 – and the first Good News Friday blog post at RebeccaLynnDevotions. I’m excited to begin this beautiful Fall focusing and sharing more of the good news going on in the world.
Every day we are bombarded with bad news on top of horrible news. And while the world needs our prayers and attention to all things — I believe our hearts and minds need good, encouraging news more than ever! The unbelieving world needs it even more!
Philippians 4:8 tells us to focus on that which is good. It’s interesting to note that the two verses encompassing verse 8 promise God’s PEACE!
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think on these things. Whatever you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, put these things into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:7-9
The world may not be filled with peace – and in fact, there won’t be absolute peace until Jesus returns. But our hearts and minds can be filled with His peace – a peace that transcends all understanding – that conquers every fear and worry – that can saturate a dying world with the peace and hope of Christ.
So, here is the first Good News Friday story I want to share with you. It’s about faith, hope, and the power we have to change the world for good! I hope it will warm your hearts as much as it did mine. Share it with your friends, your community, and all the world!
PS: The feature photo for this blog series is my very own beautiful little girl. I captured this moment as she was twirling and playing and lifting her hands to the sky. It was so precious! It reminds me of the pure joy God intended for this world to bring us – and the joy we can still find when we take a moment to praise Him and all that is “very good” in creation.
