As I look out my window and hear the birds chirping and see the beautiful hibiscus blooming, I wonder if they realize there is such mourning today. How can life go on without missing a beat? It seems to skip over the broken beats of so many hearts today.
The Christian blogging community lost such a sweet soul yesterday. A family lost their daughter, sister, aunt, mother. A community lost their friend.
I didn’t know her before yesterday, but I will remember her forever. And as her scheduled blog posts keep popping up in my news feeds, I realize how important it is to live a life for Christ.
Our finances won’t matter. Our homes won’t matter. Our worries, our bills, our struggles. None of it will matter. Our lives here will be over. Our friends, family, and community will move on, too. Flowers will continue to bloom and birds will continue to sing.
So is life just skipping right over our lives? Does any of it matter?
The seeds we have sown for Christ will continue to do the work of His Kingdom. That’s eternal! The seeds we plant will grow, and mature, and bloom. And they will spread, and be re-seeded, and re-grown. They will live on not just in this lifetime, but forever in the Kingdom of Heaven.
This world will go on without us – that is true. But it just might go on to be a more beautiful world because of us and the work we did for Christ.
Your work lives on, Mandy. And we will continue spreading the seeds you have sown.
